NBA rumors: Kyrie Irving prefers to join Lakers and reunite with LeBron James

Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the February 9 trade deadline and wants to move from the franchise either now, via a trade, or in the summer as a free agent.

The two sides didn’t reach an agreement on a new deal, hence Irving has no intention to stay with the team long-term.

Based on some NBA insiders, four powerhouses in the East and West are expected to show interest to land Kyrie Irving. These teams are the LA Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns.

According to Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, the 2016 NBA champion prefers to join the Lakers and reunite with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James. The 17-time NBA champions are expected to engage in talks with the Nets ahead of the deadline.
