Nikola Mirotic was clearly disappointed after the elimination of Barcelona from the Copa Del Rey semi-finals.

The Catalans led by 10 in the fourth quarter vs Unicaja Malaga, but were eventually defeated in overtime (87-89).

Speaking wit the media afterwards, Nikola Mirotic initially referred to what went wrong for his team late in the game, and like Barcelona head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, he couldn’t explain how his team lost the game.

“Once again, we were not able to kill the game. I think we played a good game, we had confidence, but we lost. Barca’s season depends on titles, nothing else matters,” the superstar forward noted.

“We were up by 10 points in different parts of the game but we allowed them to bounce back several times. They played great, I’m not underestimating them but we lacked accuracy at the end. We must think about everything [in our game].

After failing to win the SuperCup (in September) and the Copa Del Rey (February), Barcelona turns its attention to the remainder of the season in the EuroLeague and ACB.

Even though he admits that the Copa Del Rey elimination hurts a lot, Nikola Mirotic remains confident that the “Blaugrana” will turn things around in the remainder of the season.

“It hurts a lot. We have lost the title. We were the champions for two years in a row. It feels bad. We were playing well recently, we were starting to be more consistent. In the end, we missed our chance,” Nikola Mirotic added.

“We are capable of turning this situation around. We must be more united than ever. There are still titles to win. I trust Barca. I’m optimistic.”

Barcelona is third in the EuroLeague standings with a 16-8 record and on top of the ACB , at 17-3, tied with Real Madrid.
