Olympiacos head coach Giorgos Bartzokas didn’t like what he saw from his players in the blowout road loss to Armani Milano on Friday (83-62) and called them out for their performance on both ends.

The Greek head coach said the “Reds” played like an ‘arrogant’ team and they didn’t approach the game the right way.

“Today, we played like an arrogant team, we wanted to win the game without fighting, which is what took us to the top spot in the rankings until now. We have to congratulate Milan and move on. We trust our team, sometimes a loss like this helps a coach set things up again.

None of our players had a good night, and I am not talking about a shooting night. I am talking about the approach, which was really loose today,” Giorgos Bartzokas said afterwards.

Olympiacos made one of their worst performances this season. The “Reds” scored just 62 points, their second lowest scoring performance this year (after scoring 60 vs Monaco on January 10 – they lost both games).

They also conceded 83 points, allowing 7.2 points more than their season average (EuroLeague-best 75.8 ppg). Meanwhile, Armani scored 31 points off of the “Reds” 19 turnovers and another 12 points from their eight offensive rebounds.

“We had 19 turnovers and when you commit so many it’s difficult to win the game. They took all the 50-50 balls, on the floor ad in the air, something that shows they had big-time motivation to play against us,” Giorgos Bartzokas added.

Olympiacos (18-8) will look to get back on track next week, when they host Barcelona and Bayern Munich. If they win both games, they will clinch a playoff spot and will come a step away from the home-court advantage.
