NBA rumors: Suns concerned about Kevin Durant’s ankle injury

Kevin Durant suffered an ankle injury during pregame warmups and was ruled out Wednesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a left ankle soreness.

The superstar forward was set for his home debut with the Phoenix Suns, but his injury will delay his first appearance in a Phoenix uniform at Vivint Center.

Per Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic, Kevin Durant, who will have an MRI on Thursday, was in a walking boot after the game.

“We’ll get more testing done tomorrow,” Suns head coach Monty Williams said. “Right now, it’s just an ankle sprain and we don’t have anything official to report.”

According to Greg Moore of the Arizona Republic, the Suns are concerned about the severity of Durant’s injury and how much time it could cost him.

There is fear within the franchise that Kevin Durant has a grade 2 sprain, which would keep him out between four and six weeks. If that happens, Durant could miss the remainder of the regular season and potentially the start of the playoffs.

Durant has played only three games with Phoenix since arriving via a trade from the Brooklyn Nets and is averaging 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds during that stretch. The Suns have won their last four games (37-29) and are 3-0 with the All-Star forward in the lineup.
