Yanni Wetzell hit the game winner at the buzzer and handed ALBA Berlin its first-ever EuroLeague win over Bayern Munich (75-76).

In a late thriller at Audi Dome that featured 15 lead changes, the Berliners claimed a big road win and all but eliminated the Bavarians from the playoffs with five games to go for the regular season finale.

In addition, they won in the German Derby for the first time ever in the EuroLeague and put an end to a six-game losing skid against their rivals in the competition.

Former Bayern player Maodo Lo had a game-high 16 points for the winners, while Cassius Winston posted 14 points and eight assists for the Bavarians.

“We feel great. To get another win in the EuroLeague is awesome. Big rivalry game, obviously, it adds a little something extra. We played well and getting a win on the road is great. It helps a lot to team’s spirit, so we’re happy with that,” ALBA Berlin forward Luke Sikma said afterwards.

ALBA Berlin improved to 8-21 in the standings, but won for just the second time in its last 11 games. On the contrary, Bayern fell to 11-18 and are on the brink of elimination from the playoffs.
