Giorgos Bartzokas and Olympiacos clinched a playoff spot after their road win over Zalgiris Kaunas at Zalgirio Arena on Thursday (72-74).

The Greek head coach saw the “Reds” become the first team to book its ticket to the postseason with five games to go for the regular season finale.

After the game vs the Lithuanians, Giorgos Bartzokas spoke about his team’s achievement and the potential opponents in the playoffs.

“I would ike to return here (for the Final Four), but we take nothing for granted. We still have five games to play and we want to stay healthy. It is difficult for the players to stay focused all the time, but I don’t complain about anything. We are on top of the standings and we play excellent basketball.

We believe that every team that will qualify for the playoffs will not be a weak opponent. This is a battle for every team and we can’t pick an opponent in the postseason. We go game-by-game and our target now is to clinch the home-court advantage,” Giorgos Bartzokas said afterwards.

Olympiacos is the frontrunner for a Top-2 finish and the favorite to claim the top spot, as they have the tiebreaker over second-placed Real Madrid. The “Reds lead the way in the standings with a 21-8 record, while the “Whites” are at 20-9.
