Wade Baldwin says he and Maccabi teammate Lorenzo Brown are the best duo in the EuroLeague

Wade Baldwin had high praise for his teammate in Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Lorenzo Brown, following the home win over Baskonia on Thursday (93-79).

The American star guard called himself and Lorenzo Brown the best duo in the EuroLeague, after the two stars combined for 41 points against the Basques.

“It’s simple,” Wade Baldwin said afterwards. “Lorenzo is the best point guard in the EuroLeague and I’m the best combo [guard] in the EuroLeague. We have five more games left, and if we don’t finish out and make the playoffs, that statement holds no weight. But right now, we’re playing like the best duo in the EuroLeague.”

Baldwin had 24 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for a PIR of 31 on Thursday, while Brown added 17, leading the Israelis to a crucial win over a fellow playoff contender.

The American scoring guard has been unstoppable in the second part of the season. He ranks fourth in the league with an average of 17.1 points per game and has scored at least 14 points during each of the last 11 games, averaging 21.3 points during that stretch.

Meanwhile, the EuroBasket champion with Spain is sixth in scoring with 16.6 points and fourth in assists with 5.7 per game. At the same time, his return from injury has helped Maccabi win four of its last five games and maintain a strong playoff push.

With five games to go in the regular season, the Israeli powerhouse is sixth in the EuroLeague standings with a 16-13 record, tied with Partizan. Maccabi is 12-2 at home this season.
