Markus Howard made a stellar offensive performance and led Baskonia past Real Madrid in a Liga Endesa derby at Wizink Center (88-95).
The American scoring guard posted a team-high 19 points to help his team turn things around in the second half and defeat the “Whites”. Gabriel Deck led all scorers with 21 points for the hosts, but couldn’t lead his squad to the victory.
Real Madrid were in control in the first half and came close to double-digit leads (44-35), but the Basques made a comeback in the second half (53-57, 56-63, 72-80). The “Whites” regained the lead (86-83), but the visitors closed the game on a 2-10 run to seal the deal.
Baskonia and Real Madrid now have identical records (19-4) and are tied with Barcelona on top of the ACB standings. Meanwhile, the Basques stayed undefeated over the “Whites” this season and lifted their record to 4-0 in all competitions. Baskonia has swept the regular season series with Real Madrid in both the EuroLeague and ACB.
