Clippers concerned about Paul George suffering potentially serious injury

There is a growing level of concern in the LA Clippers about Paul George potentially suffering a serious knee injury.

The superstar forward had to exit the game vs the Oklahoma City Thunder midway through the fourth quarter with an apparent right knee injury. George got injured while battling Luguentz Dort for a defensive rebound, as his right knee visibly buckled inward as he landed and simultaneously clashed with Dort’s leg.

According to Tomer Azarly of Clutchpoints, “Paul George was carted out of Crypto.com Arena, laying on the back of the cart with his right leg extended out. He also had crutches, which he used to get to his car upon leaving the cart.”

It is unclear how serious his injury is and he will have an MRI on Wednesday, as confirmed by Clippers’ head coach Tyronn Lue, who stated that Paul George has yet to be fully evaluated.

“I saw it, but he’s still being re-evaluated, but I did see it,” head coach Tyronn Lue said after the game. “I didn’t even know it looked like that until Dahntay [Jones] showed me.”

A serious Paul George injury will be a major upset for a Clippers team that is fighting for the direct qualification for the playoffs and the home-court advantage. With nine games to go, the Clippers are fifth in the West standings with a 38-35 record, just a game behind fourth-placed Phoenix Suns. The Clippers will face the Thunder again on Thursday.
