Paul George avoids serious damage; playoff status still uncertain

Paul George has avoided a serious damage in his right knee, but he is still expected to miss time, which puts his playoff presence in jeopardy.

The superstar guard of the LA Clippers had an MRI on Wednesday, which revealed a sprain in his right knee that will rule him out for the remainder of the regular season.

Paul George will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks, therefore he will be out for the remaining nine Clippers games and his playoff status remains unclear. The regular season finale is on Sunday, April 9 and the postseason will tip off on Saturday, April 15.

The superstar forward had to exit the game vs the Oklahoma City Thunder midway through the fourth quarter with an apparent right knee injury. George got injured while battling Luguentz Dort for a defensive rebound, as his right knee visibly buckled inward as he landed and simultaneously clashed with Dort’s leg.

His injury created a growing level of concern in a Clippers team that has title aspirations and a serious Paul George injury would be a major upset for the franchise, which is fighting for the direct qualification for the playoffs and the home-court advantage.

With nine games to go, the Clippers are fifth in the West standings with a 38-35 record, just a game behind fourth-placed Phoenix Suns. The Clippers will face the Thunder again on Thursday.
