Guerschon Yabusele wins first career EuroLeague MVP of the Round award; praises team effort after win over Virtus

With a spectacular performance on both ends, Real Madrid forward Guerschon Yabusele earned the MVP honor for EuroLeague Round 30, the first award in his 92-game EuroLeague career.

The French big man anchored the “Whites” road win over Virtus Bologna on Friday (79-96) with 24 points, tying his career high, on 10/13 shooting, including a buzzer-beater at halftime from the opposite free-throw line. He added 6 points and 3 assists without a turnover for a PIR of 30, the best of all players in the Round.

While speaking to the media afterwaeds, Guerschon Yabusele praised team effort for the victory, which lifted Real Madrid to the top of the standings with a 21-9 record, tied with Olympiacos.

“When we came out in the second half we came out really strong to make the difference and secure the win. That was the key of the game. We were feeling good. We shared the ball and found the open man. Everybody was knocking down the threes today. It was pretty good for us, a good win,” Guerschon Yabusele said.

Guershon Yabusele has appeared in 24 games for Real Madrid this season, averaging 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds for a PIR of 10.8, on 58.1% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc.
