Sergio Llull, Guerschon Yabusele apologize for their actions in Real/Partizan brawl

Sergio Llull and Guerschon Yabusele took to social media and apologized for their actions during the brawl in Game 2 between Real Madrid and Partizan.

“What took place last night should never happen on a basketball court. I take responsibility for committing that tough foul that sparked the ensuing disaster. My apologies to all basketball fans,” Sergio Llull tweeted.

Meanwhile, Guerschon Yabusele slammed Dante Exum to the ground, which led to the Australian guard’s injury. Exum was later seen leaving the court with a heavy limp and with the assistance of team personnel.

“I deeply regret my behavior at last night’s game. Basketball is about sportsmanship and friendship. My sincere apologies to Partizan, a club with which we have always had a great relationship, to Dante Exum and his family, to my teammates, my club, and all the fans“, Guerschon Yabusele stated on his Instagram account.

In a chaotic Game 2, Partizan dominated Real Madrid at Wizink Center (80-95) and came a step away from the EuroLeague Final Four (0-2).

The Serbians can close out the series and advance to the semi-finals if they defeat the “Whites” in Game 3 at the sold-out Stark Arena in Belgrade next week (Tuesday, May 2). On the other hand, Real has to win both games to stay alive and force a Game 5. A defeat will eliminate them.

Things got heated in crunch time when Sergio Llull committed a hard foul on Kevin Punter, which led to immense chaos and a brawl. As we said, Dante Exum got eventually injured by Guerschon Yabusele and a total of 21 players got ejected. It remains to be seen what sanctions the EuroLeague will impose and the final decision will be announced on Friday.
