Llull’s game-winner leads Real Madrid to thrilling F4 Championship Game glory

Real Madrid withstood a 29-point performance from EuroLeague’s MVP Sasha Vezenkov and Sergio Llull hit the winning shot in the last seconds of the Final-4’s championship game to lead the “Whites” to a thrilling 78-79 victory over Olympiacos.

Real Madrid came back from a 7-point deficit in the fourth quarter and shocked the “Reds”, who saw Isaiah Canaan scoring 21 points. Real Madrid had four players in double-digit, led by Sergio Rodriguez. Rodriguez finished with 15 points and nine assists.

Walter Tavares followed the veteran guard with 13 points and 10 rebounds as Real won its fifth EuroLeague title surpassing Maccabi Tel Aviv and CSKA Moscow in the F4 era. The Whites started slow being down seven (24-17) in the 1st quarter but made a run in the second to tie the game at 45 to close the first half.

Real out-rebounded Olympiacos 37-30 and claimed 13 offensive rebounds. Prior to Llull’s big shot over Moustapha Fall, Sergio Rodriguez hit a clutch three to cut the deficit to 1 (78-76) with less than a minute remaining. Fall missed an opportunity with 21 seconds at the shot clock and Llull hit a tough jumper on the other side with 3 seconds remaining to win the game.

Sloukas had his chance but missed the potential winning shot as Real Madrid’s player enter the court to celebrate after the buzzer.
