Nigel Williams-Goss on Hedgeout.net about playing in his first EuroLeague Championship Game and facing his former team

Reporting from Kaunas

Nigel Williams-Goss is getting ready for his first EuroLeague Championship Game as Real Madrid will take on Olympiacos at Zalgirio Arena on Sunday.

The American scoring guard will appear in his first EuroLeague Championship Game, as he missed last year’s Final with an injury, and is extra motivated for that.

Nigel Williams-Goss also had high praise for his former team, Olympiacos, and the way they have played all season long, while he sent a message to Real Madrid fans, making it clear that the “Whites” came to Kaunas to lift the trophy.

Here is what Nigel Williams-Goss told Hedgeout.net and Yiannis Bouranis before Real Madrid’s practice at the Zalgirio Arena on Saturday:

On his mindset for the Championship Game: “Thinking about that we just didn’t come out here to win just the semi-final, we came here for the title and we have one more game to achieve this target. So, I am fully focused on tomorrow and ready to go”

On playing his first Final after missing last year’s Championship Game: “For sure I have extra motivation. It is so tough to come to a Final Four and challenge for the championship and not be able to play. Now I have the opportunity to play the Championship Game and I want to take full advantage of it”

On his former team, Olympiacos: “The way they played this year is undeniable, they have definitely been the most consistent team in the EuroLeague this season, their chemistry is great, they play well on both sides and they are a great team. You don’t get to this point for no reason”

On his message for Real Madrid fans: “I know the challenge is in front of us and it’s going to be a fight for 40 minutes. We came here to win the title, not just the semi-final game. We want to lift the trophy and we will put all our focus and energy to do so”

Nigel Williams-Goss played 26 minutes in the semi-final vs Barcelona and posted 10 points and two assists, on 2/9 shooting, for a PIR of 5.
