Dennis Schroder reveals he will join Germany for summer’s Basketball World Cup

Dennis Schroder made his intentions clear regarding his participation in the Basketball World Cup with the national team of Germany.

The German point guard of the LA Lakers revealed he will have some rest first and then he will start practices in the coming weeks to get ready for July’s training camp.

“I want to play for sure. I can’t wait to write another history this summer. That would be crazy for Germany, for myself and the Federation. I’m ready for it.”

“I’m going to take two weeks off to spend time with my family. They are sacrificing so much being there for me. My wife is doing everything for me so I can be at my highest level of playing.

Didn’t see my kids much so I’m going to take one-two weeks off to spend time with them. Then I’m going to Germany to see my family there and my friends. A couple of weeks later the training camp starts for the World Cup,” Dennis Schroder told Lakers media on Tuesday.

Dennis Schroder led Germany to the bronze medal in the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket, with the final stage taking place in Berlin. He averaged 22.1 points, 7.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds, making the All-Tournament Team. This was the first medal for Germany since the silver in the 2005 EuroBasket.

The Lakers’ guard, who averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 boards this season, has appeared in all major FIBA tournaments since joining Germany in 2015. The Germans wil collide with Finland, Australia and Japan in the group stage of the Basketball World Cup, which will take place in late summer (August 25 – September 10).
