Celtics survive epic finale vs Heat to force Game 7

The Boston Celtics stood tall vs the Miami Heat on Saturday (104-103) and evened the series at 3-3, extending it to a Game 7 on Monday.

Derrick White hit the game-winning tip-in at the buzzer and the Celtics will look to become the first team to win a series coming back from a 3-0 deficit.

The Heat erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, and took the lead with three seconds to go (102-103), but it was Derrick White that saved Boston from elimination.

“Derrick White, like a flash of lightning, just came out of nowhere and saved the day, man,” Boston’s Jaylen Brown said afterwards. “An incredible play.”

Derrick White became the second player in NBA history to hit a buzzer-beater with his team trailing and facing elimination – Michael Jordan’s “The Shot” for Chicago against Cleveland in 1989 being the other.

Boston is now going home for its shot at history. Game 7 is Monday night at TD Garden, a matchup that will decide who meets the Western Conference champion Denver Nuggets in a title series that will start Thursday.
