Warriors land Chris Paul in mega trade with Wizards

In a surprising move, the Golden State Warriors have acquired Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards, adding another All-Star to their roster.

In exchange, the Wizards have received Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins, a 2030 first-round pick (protected) and a 2027 second-round pick.

This move helps Golden State create financial flexibility, as Jordan Poole is about to begin a four-year, $128M deal, while Paul is due about $31M this coming season and has nothing guaranteed after that.

Poole is coming off a career-best 20.4 points over 82 games during the season, along with averages of 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists (career-high). However, his numbers dropped significantly in the playoffs and played only 21.8 minutes per game due to the struggles.

On the other hand, Paul averaged 13.9 points and 8.9 assists this past season for Phoenix, with the Suns trading him to Washington last week as part of the Bradley Beal trade.

Now, Jordan Poole joins a Wizards team in full rebuild, while Chris Paul will play for a contender and will have another chance to claim his first NBA championship, as he is about to enter his 19th season in the league.
