Joel Embiid has a decision to make about the team he will play for in the 2024 Olympic Games. The reigning NBA MVP has three options in Team USA, France and Cameroon, but it is unclear which team he will join for the summer Olympics.
“My goal is to play in the Olympics. I love all three options. Cameroon, I’m born there, I’m from there and I always want to represent my country. But the goal is also to play in the Olympics,” Joel Embiid told reporters during the Philadelphia 76ers’ Media Day, via NBA.com.
“If we had a chance, or if we would qualify for the Olympics, that will be an easy decision. But that’s still up in the air. And I really do want to play in the Olympics. Probably going to make that decision in the next few days,” Embiid added.
According to the president of the French Basketball Federation, Embiid has one week to make his decision, as his deadline will expire on Tuesday, October 10.
