WNBA: Aces, A’ja Wilson dominate Liberty to take commanding 2-0 lead

A’Ja Wilson had 26 points and 15 rebounds to register the 4th double in the postseason and the Las Vegas Aces dominated Game 2 of the WNBA Finals 104-76 to take a commanding 2-0 lead over the New York Liberty.

Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young had their second consecutive 20-plus game in the WNBA Finals and the Aces started strong with a 21-4 in the opening minutes and a 38-19 lead in the first quarter.

New York found its footing in the second half and trimmed the lead to single digits, with Jonquel Jones taking control of the game, but the Liberty failed to remain close and succumbed to another defeat. Jones was the top performer for the visitors with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

The Liberty saw their star duo underperforming for the second consecutive game. Regular season MVP Breanna Stewart shot just 6-of-17 to score 14 points, while Sabrina Ionescu was 2-of-10 from the field and finished with just 10 points.

The defending champion Aces are now one win away from becoming the first team since the 2001-02 Los Angeles Sparks to repeat as champions. Game 3 is Sunday in New York.
