NBA rumors: James Harden drama emerge as Clippers, Sixers negotiation stall

The Philadelphia 76ers have been working towards a deal that will send James Harden to the Clippers but both sides have yet to come to an agreement. With the negotiation being in progress for months now, Harden has reportedly missed practice on Wednesday, The Athletic reports.

Harden has been a no-show since Sunday, as the report suggests. The veteran superstar hasn’t appeared in any of the five preseason games and it’s unclear if he will suit up for the Sixers this season.

In a recent report by Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers appeared unwilling to increase the offer for James Harden’s expiring deal. The Sixers seem to exercise patience as the team is trying to acquire assets that will help the franchise remain a title contender.

Harden has repeated his desire to not play for the Sixers throughout the summer. He even called Sixers’ president Daryl Morey out publicly during a commercial event in China after the 76ers decided to end trade talks with the Clippers in mid-August.

Harden averaged 21 points, 10.7 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game last season. He helped the Sixers make it to the Eastern Conference semifinals but failed to realize the team’s championship potential in a horrendous team performance in Game 7 against the Boston Celtics.

James Harden will be a free agent next summer, so he will eventually leave the Sixers one way or another. It remains to be seen which side will be pressured to a deal as the NBA season starts in the upcoming week.
