Anadolu Efes superstar Shane Larkin is preparing to face Olympiacos on Thursday night and he recenlty spoke about his relationship with the Turkish Basketball Federation after a summer incident.
Larkin was unable to play due to injury with the Turkish NT and was stripped off his Turkish passport that allowed him to play in the national team. He once again denied that he was healthy this past summer and claimed that he has no relationship with the TBF as of now.
“I think if you have the medical documents that prove you weren’t healthy, you shouldn’t be penalized for not playing. It’s very simple. I’ve talked about this many times, but at the end of the day I have the proof, the medical documents and the reports that said I was unable to play basketball,” the Anadolu Efes superstar said in an interview with Vasiliki Karamouza of Sport24.
Shane Larkin had spent the summer recovering from injury, while he had also faced several issues during last season, where he missed a big part of the year. He could not help the Turkish NT this summer, but the federation did not believe him.
“Nevertheless they reached to this verdict. It’s heartbreaking because I really enjoyed being in the Turkish National Team and having the opportunity to play with these teammates. We will see what happens in the future, but at the moment I have no relations with the Turkish federation.”
Shane Larkin has a strong start to the new EuroLeague season so far helping the revamped Anadolu Efes to a 2-2 record. The star guard is averaging 13.5 points, 7.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds through four games this season.
