Franz Wagner and the Orlando Magic are on the rise through the first three months of the new NBA season. In the night that Orlando dominated the Wizards, Franz Wagner joined two Magic legends scoring 30+ points on 70% shooting.
The two players that did it before Franz Wagner is the great Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard. Wagner did however shoot 70% from the field making also 4-of-6 threes as the Magic nailed their 8th consecutive and they are one win away from the franchise-record win streak.
“Just trying to get in the paint, make plays. Today, I got a lot of easy ones in transition,” Franz Wagner noted. “I just try to play within the flow of the offense. Take the shots that the defense gives me and stay confident out there.”
That was the second time in the last two games that the German superstar scored 30+ points. It was the sixth time in his young NBA career that he surpassed the 30-point mark as the red-hot Magic made quick work of the Wizards beating them 139-120 on the road.
The two teams will meet again on Friday as the Magic will try to add another positive performance to their quick start to the season and tie a franchise record that was set 13 years ago when Orlando notched nine straight from Dec. 23, 2010 to Jan. 8, 2011.
“We don’t want to be good right now, we want to be good at the end of the season and that’s why we need to keep getting better,” Wagner told in the post-game presser.
