Valencia stuns Olympiacos in low scoring affair; Fenerbahce beats Monaco in Jasikevicius debut

Valencia Basket kept Olympiacos down in a low scoring affair and took a huge road win vs. the “Reds”. In other games EuroLeague round 14 games from Friday, Sarunas Jasikevicius led Fenerbahce to a win over AS Monaco in his first appearance after replacing Dimitris Itoudis.

Milan was able to survive FC Barcelona comeback in the fourth quarter and got a huge road win in Palau Blaugrana.

Olympiacos (7-7) vs Valencia Basket (8-6) 56-63 

Key to victory: Valencia Basket kept Olympiacos down in a low scoring affair as the “Reds” scored only 38 points in the first three quarters which a new EuroLeague low in club’s history. Valencia kept the home team at bay as Olympiacos only shot 29% from 3 and 41.7% on 2-pointers. The hosts never got closer than 5 points in the second half.

Top Performers: Stefan Jovic and Chris Jones each had 12 points and 4 rebounds for Valencia Basket, while Damien Inglis added 10. Olympiacos had only two players on double-digits with Thomas Walkup leading with 13 and Kostas Papanikolaou finished with 11 points.

Ferenbahce (7-7) vs AS Monaco Basket (8-6) 86-74

Key to victory: Fenerbahce remained perfect at home thanks to a strong third quarter performance when the Turkish giants kept Monaco at 12 points and scored 22 to earn a 68-57 lead. From that point, Fener never looked back and Sarunas Jasikevicius led his new team to an importan victory.

Top Performers: Nigel Hayes-Davis had a team-high 23 points. Scottie Wilbekin also had 13 points and Marko Guduric 10. Nick Calathes also added 7 points and out-rebounded his team’s bigs with 10 rebounds. Mike James had a game-high 24 points for the losing side.

FC Barcelona (10-4) vs Olimpia Milan (5-9) 86-90

Key to victory: Olimpia Milan pushed the pace early and got a big advantage by taking a 12-27 lead in the first quarter. The rest of the game was FC Barcelona constant efforts to recover from their bad quarter which were not materialized.

Top Performers: Devon Hall paced the visitors with 21 points, Shavon Shields added 19 points for Milan, veteran Nicolo Melli scored 16 and Diego Flaccadori chipped in with 15. Milan were without key players including Nikola Mirotic. Nikola Kalinic led FC Barcelona with 17 points.
