Bulls fans receive encouraging news on Lonzo Ball

Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is expected to start running again taking the right step towards returning to the court at some point, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

More importantly, Lonzo Ball is no longer in pain after undergoing multiple knee surgeries the last two seasons. Ball hasn’t played since the 2021-2022 season.

“The pain that he was experiencing that was causing the setback, I think, has been eliminated in terms of what he’s doing now but he hasn’t run. The next progression for him will be to start running and that will be here in January,” head coach Billy Donovan noted.

Ball underwent surgery to repair a torn left meniscus sometime between late January and early February of 2022. Ball then underwent a second surgery in September 2022, this time an arthroscopic debridement on the same knee.

After both surgeries, Lonzo Ball continued to feel discomfort and was ruled out from playing basketball despite initially having a 4-6 weeks timetable. By February 2023, he was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Several weeks later, Ball underwent a third surgery on his knee in March. He was ruled out indefinitely following the procedure. Now, the 26-years old guard hopes to be able to return at some point after ramping up its activity.

However, he’s not expected to be back this season. Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists during his time with the Bulls providing also a strong presence in the defensive end.
