NBA trade deadline rumors: Warriors still on the market, Celtics could make additional moves

Many rumors surrounded the Warriors’ team since the 2022 NBA champion are still under .500 and out of the playoff picture. Golden State Warriors have been on a roll lately as they won 4 of their last 5 games and head coach Steve Kerr reiterated that he believes in the current group of players.

The last 5 games were evidently good for them and Steve Kerr wants to see his group perform going forward. That said, the Warriors seem to be on the market and they’re willing to part ways with some players that they are underperforming this season. Andrew Wiggins remains a name that pops up in the latest trade rumors regarding the Warriors roster.

According to NBA reporter Mark Stein (via Real GM), the Warriors are expected to explore their options on a Wiggins trade until the end of the trade deadline. The latest rumors suggested that the Milwaukee Bucks were on the hunt for the Canadian forward however Stein claims the 2021 NBA champions interest was overblown.

Whoever makes a deal for Wiggins he will have to offer back the same amount salary or have enough cap space to add the Canadian’s $24M salary in the books. Wiggins returned from injury and scored 21 points in 23 minutes playing alongside Jonathan Kuminga and Draymond Green.

“I feel like this group can do something special,” Kerr told reporters via The Athletic. “I really do. So if we don’t do anything tomorrow, we feel like we have a good group we can push with.”

Xavier Tillman joins the Celtics, but Boston might check NBA deadline for more

The Boston Celtics are undoubtedly the best team in the NBA as they coveted a star-studded roster putting Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday around Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum last summer.

On Wednesday, the Celtics traded two 2nd round picks and salary filler for Memphis Grizzlies bigman Xavier Tillman closing a big hole in their roster by adding a back-up center.

That said, the Celtics are still in the market for players that can help them solidify their rotation after acquiring Tillman. The Celtics still have two tradeable 1st round picks and matching salary for backup wing or guard if they want to. Jarred Weiss of The Athletic suggests that the Celtics could be in the market for an additional backup win.

“He’s the GM, he kind of has a check on the temperature of the team. If he sees something that we might need, or a change that could be helpful, that’s his job. Our job is to go out there and compete,” Tatum said on Brad Stevens and the Celtics activity at the trade deadline.
