WNBA: Caitlin Clark, Fever remain winless after loss to Sun

The Indiana Fever were close to their first win of the WNBA season but Tyasha Harris of the Connecticut Sun scored 13 of his team’s last 18 points to lead them to an 88-84 victory. WNBA rookie phenom Caitlin Clark and her team remained winless in the first four games of the season.

Harris finished with 16 points and three 3-pointers for the Sun’s second win in a week over the Fever. Clark went down with an ankle injury and missed the final 5 1/2 minutes of the first half, but return for the second to finish with 17 points and five assists, all in the final 10 minutes, while making 5-of-11 shots and three 3-pointers.

Alyssa Thomas had 24 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists for the winning side, while DeWanna Bonner added 22 points.

Liberty beats Storm to remain perfect in WNBA season

Sabrina Ionescu scored 20 points, and the New York Liberty cruised to a 74-63 victory to start with four wins in the first four games of the WNBA season. Breanna Stewart added 16 points and 11 rebounds for New York, which last won its first four games to start a season in 2007.

Jewell Loyd led Seattle (1-3) with 13 points and nine rebounds. The last season WNBA finalists led 50-40 midway through the second quarter before scoring the next seven points, including five by Ionescu, to extend the advantage to 17. The Storm could not recover from New York’s run as the Liberty cruised for the rest of the game.
