Mario Hezonja admitted that he’s in talks to extend his contract with Real Madrid, but refused the notion that they reached to an agreement. The Croatian superstar revealed that the two sides are still in talks.
Hezonja’s future with the club is a talking point all season as the Croatian is set to become a free agent this summer. After Real Madrid’s 84-76 victory against UCAM Murcia in Game 2 of the ACB Finals, Hezonja was asked about a report suggesting he signed a two-year deal with the Whites.
“It’s a lie,” Hezonia initially responded to whether he had reached an agreement with Real. “We are discussing and trying to come to an agreement, but now is not the time to talk about it.”
Hezonja has been a crucial part of Real Madrid’s success during the last few seasons as the Whites need two more wins to secure the ACB title and finish the season on a high note after losing the EuroLeague title.
Hezonja was a EuroLeague second-team selection this season with averages of 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. They are already reports suggesting that Real Madrid already started to make moves for the next season with Serge Ibaka being the latest name to be added in the rumor mill for the club.
