Greece NT forward Ioannis Papapetrou skips Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Ioannis Papapetrou officially announced that he will not join the Greek national team for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Piraeus, Greeece next month (July 2-7). Amid an injury-plagued season, where he was forced to miss a few months with a knee injury, the Greek forward will skip the tournament to rest and avoid re-aggravating the injury.

Following Ioannis Papapetrou’s departure, the premilinary roster of Greece for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament is as follows:

Greece will face the Dominican Republic and Egypt in Group B of the tournament. Group A consists of Croatia, Slovenia, and New Zealand. The top two teams will reach the semi-finals and only one will advance to the Olympic Games in late July.
