The Brooklyn Nets were the first to pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade sending Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks. The Nets will receive four unprotected first rounders from New York, a protected 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee, the Knicks’ unprotected 2028 pick swap and a 2025 Brooklyn second-round selection and Bojan Bogdanovic.
The news were first reported from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The blockbuster trade add another valuable wing for the Knicks, who are set to compete for a championship next season with the likes of Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, Josh Hart, Donte Divincenzo and others.
According to ESPN, OG Anunoby remains the priority for the New York Knicks in the free agency and they are willing to keep him to the team. That said, Isaiah Hartenstein’s contract renewal might be difficult considering that the Knicks will give up the majority of their cap space for Bridges and Anunoby.
As for the Brooklyn Nets, they have replenished their draft capital going into a clear direction rebuilding the team as the team was moving between draft lottery and playoff contention after the departure of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Nets will have 31 draft picks at their disposal until 2031 including four in the 2025 NBA Draft.
