Bonzie Colson became the second Maccabi star to officially change team as he joined Fenerbahce on a two-year deal with an option for a third one, as the Turkish giants announced. Colson spent two seasons with the Israeli club, which reached the EuroLeague playoffs in back-to-back years.
Colson will earn around $3 million during his first two seasons with Fenerbahce as Turkish reporter Yagız Sabuncuoglu revealed. Bonzie Colson was a crucial part of Maccabi’s success under Oded Kattash.
The American forward opted to leave the club due to the situation in Israel. Bonzie Colson has experience in the Turkish league as he spent time with both Darussafaka and Pinar Karsiyaka.
The Notre Dame product averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 0.6 assists, and 0.4 blocks per contest over 40 appearances last season. He made the jump to the EuroLeague in 2022 after a career altering season with Strasbourg in the Basketball Champions League.
Bonzie Colson was named FIBA Basketball Champions League MVP and top scorer in 2021 and moved to Pinar Karsiyaka which was his last stop before making the jump to the EuroLeague by joining Maccabi.
He was named Israeli league champion in 2023 and 2024, while he also won an Israeli Cup in 2022. During his two season with the Yellow and Blue of Maccabi Tel Aviv, he made 79 appearances in the EuroLeague.
