EuroLeague rumors: AS Monaco to part ways with 3 core players; finalizes deal with Juhann Begarin

AS Monaco is expected to move the needle after failing to make the Final-Four last season. The French league club is set to part ways with Jordan Loyd, John Brown and Donta Hall as bebasket.fr reports.

The team has already announced the signings of Nick Calathes and Giorgos Papagiannis, while they retained Mike James on a lucrative multi- year deal.

AS Monaco continued the refurbishment of its perimeter rotation bringing in guard Juhann Begarin from Nanterre. Begarin’s NBA rights belong to the Boston Celtics, which selected him with the 45th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Begarin, a French international that grew up in INSEP Paris, started his professional career in Paris Basketball where he stayed between 2021-23.

He’s coming off an LNB season where he put up 7.5 points per game.

AS Monaco set to renovate roster ahead of the 2024/25 campaign

According to the report from bebasket.fr and several other European media, Jordan Loyd will move from the Monegasques after two seasons. Crvena Zvezda was reported as a potential destination while there is currently strong interest from Maccabi Tel Aviv.

According to the same report, Donta Hall is attracting interest from Baskonia, while John Brown is not expected to re-sign with club and he has become a free agent.

Monaco has already added strong veteran players with Papagiannis and Calathes, while they are looking to retain Donatas Motetiejunas in their roster.
