Evan Fournier is laser-focused on bringing in success with the French national team in the Paris Olympics. However, he remains a free agent and the NBA remains a priority for the veteran shooting guard.

Fournier was reported as potential target to EuroLeague teams, but his veteran presence might bring more interest especially in rebuilding teams. According to the latest report from NBA insider Marc Stein, Fournier is attracting interest by the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards traded Deni Avdija at the start of the summer and has already been among the teams willing to trade the rest of their valued roster pieces like Kyle Kuzma.

Evan Fournier had a team option with the Detroit Pistons after they acquired him from the New York Knicks at the 2024 NBA trade deadline, the Pistons declined it, making him a free agent.

The Pistons had Fournier play in 29 games, averaging 19 minutes off the bench. He produced seven points per game. It was a nice change of pace for the 31-years-old shooting guard, who only made 3 appearances with the Knicks until February.

Evan Fournier prefers NBA over EuroLeague

The French international naturally prefers to continue playing in the NBA and the Washington Wizards might offer him a similar role to the one he had in Detroit. The Pistons also remain a potential destination for the former Orlando Magic scorer as the team was happy with him offering veteran leadership to the younger guys.

In similar fashion, the Wizards are set to enter a long rebuilding process with the hope of creating a real contender. Fournier might have a place in the team especially after the great veteran work he did in Detroit, according to various NBA insiders.

Evan Fournier hasn’t been much of a contributor over the past two seasons, he could likely still be a valuable scorer off the bench for a number of teams as a career 37.4 percent three-point shooter.
