Kazys Maksvytis parts ways with Lithuania NT after elimination from 2024 Olympics

Kazys Maksvytis has parted ways with the national team of Lithuania after the elimination from the 2024 Olympic Games. The Lithuanians had to win the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico to advance to the Olympics, but lost to the hosts in the Final.

Maksvytis took over the Lithuanians in September 2021, but never managed to make the team a contender. He had a 20-8 record with the national team, with the best place being the sixth one in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Kazys Maksvytis is now a free agent, as he was also the head coach of Zalgiris Kaunas, but left the club in late December last year amid a struggling start to the season. He was the Lithuanian Basket League title and the Lithuanian Cup, respectively, with Zalgiris in 2023.
