Cavs sign star big man Evan Mobley to 5-year max extension

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed star big man Evan Mobley to a five-year max contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the summer of 2029. Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the deal is worth $224 million and could go up to $269 million.

Evan Mobley, who had averages of 15.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks last season, played a career-low 50 games for a Cleveland team that failed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals again and got eliminated by the eventual champion Boston Celtics.

Mobley, who joined the Cavs back in 2021 as the No.3 pick of the Draft, is the second Cavs player that agrees to a contract extension, after superstar guard Donovan Mitchell. Cleveland is set for a fresh start after hiring Kenny Atkinson as the new head coach.
