After one season in Munich, Serge Ibaka has officially moved to Real Madrid returning to the Whites after playing for them during the NBA lockout season back in 2011. Ibaka had a comeback year with Bayern under Pablo Laso and he will bolster Real Madrid’s frontline even more.
The veteran big returns to Madrid after winning the German Budensliga and German Cup last season. He was the top performer for the Bayern Munich squad in the 2023-24 EuroLeague campaign.
Ibaka is arriving in Madrid with a huge list of accolades under his belt including an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and several All-Defensive team selections in the NBA especially during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The NBA champion also won the gold medal with the Spanish national team at the European Championships in Lithuania in 2011 and the silver medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
One of the best defenders, European and NBA basketball has produced, Ibaka will join the multiple time EuroLeague best defender, Edy Tavares, in Madrid’s frontcourt.
