Gordon Hayward has announced his retirement from basketball at the age of 34. Amid a few injury-plagued seasons and a limited role with the OKC Thunder, the veteran forward has eventually decided to retire after 14 years in the NBA.
Hayward was the No.9 pick of the 2010 NBA Draft and spent his career between the Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets and Thunder, respectively.
“Today, I’m officially retiring from the game of basketball. It’s been an incredible ride and I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me achieve more than I ever imagined. As I move to spend more time with my family as a father and a husband, I look forward to new adventures and challenges, taking with me the lessons I’ve learned on the court that will guide me across my next chapters, both in business and in life. I can’t wait for what’s next!” Gordon Hayward posted on X.
The veteran forward had career averages of 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists and became an All-Star in 2017.
