LeBron James doesn’t care about stats; says goal is the gold medal in the Olympics

LeBron James made an all-around performance (12 points, seven rebounds, five assists) and helped Team USA clinch their spot in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Basketball Tournament, following their 103-86 victory over South Sudan.

The four-time NBA champion reached a milestone, as he joined Carmelo Anthony and teammate Kevin Durant as the only Team USA players with 300 or more points in the Olympic Games. Still, he made it clear that he only cares about winning the gold medal, not individual stats.

“Oh, not much. I mean, at the end of the day, I just want to, you know, win. I mean, I’m here to win and win the gold, and that’s my only mindset. It’s not even about scoring, it’s not about any of the stats….It’s definitely an honor any time you hear your name in it, in any type of record books, but at the end of the day I’m here for a bigger picture, for sure,” LeBron James said after the game against South Sudan, via Eurohoops.net.

After 12 years, LeBron James returned to Team USA for one final run and has his sights set on his third Olympics gold medal. He has won it twice (2008, 2012), while he was third in 2004 in Athens.
