Dillon Brooks had nothing but high praise for the way Canada is playing defensively in the Olympic Basketball Tournament. The Canadian star forward praised his team for the way they press the ball and their help defense.
“We’re a good group of players and we know what we are up against. Our defense is our top thing, our ball pressure, our attention to detail, the way we help each other. Our guys coming off the bench gave us life and energy. And our chemistry. We have been together for more than a month and we trust each other. You saw it out there today,” Dillon Brooks told media after the group stage finale on Friday.
Canada limited Spain to 46 percent in shooting and 29 percent from beyond the arc, eventually claiming the 88-85 win and finishing with a perfect 3-0 record. Meanwhile, in the opener against Greece, they saw Giannis Antetokounmpo erupt for 34 points, but the rest of the team shot just 28 percent from the field.
In addition, Dillon Brooks, who has averages of 14.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals, is considered one of the elite defenders in the tournament. Canada has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Olympic Basketball Tournament and is expected to face hosts France for a Top-4 spot.
