Team USA superstar Joel Embiid doesn’t seem to bother from the French fans, who boo him every time he touches the ball. The megastar of the Philadelphia 76ers said that he has played in worse basketball enviroments than the one in Lille and this situation doesn’t affect him.
“I’ve seen worse. I’ve played in worse environments. Both Gardens (Madison Square Garden of the New York Knicks and TD Garden of the Boston Celtics). So it’s nothing that I haven’t seen before,” Embiid told media in Lille, via Eurohoops.net.
The French crowd continues to boo Joel Embiid after his decision to pick Team USA over France and join the Americans. The former NBA MVP said he picked the American national team, because he felt ‘more comfortable’ there.
“It was a tough decision, but it was all about comfort level. And like I said, I’ve known these guys for a long time, and I just felt more comfortable than knowing the other side. There was some concern with the other side. So like I said, comfort level was huge. I always said, you know, I’m going to be one of one. I want it. And this guy is one of them,” Embiid added.
Joel Embiid has averages of 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in the first three games of the Olympic Basketball Tournament. Team USA finished the group stage undefeated (3-0) and will now take on Brazil in the knockout stage.
