Bogdan Bogdanovic praises South Sudan, calls them a ‘tough opponent’

Bogdan Bogdanovic was unstoppable offensively and helped Serbia rally past South Sudan and secure the second place in Group C and the qualification for the knockout stage of the Olympic Basketball Tournament.

The Serbian star guard erupted for a game-high 30 points and eight assists, on 10/14 shooting and 6/9 from beyond the arc. Afterwards, he had high praise for South Sudan, which did its best to advance to the knockout stage, but came up short eventually.

“We expected this kind of a game, we knew how tough of an opponent they are. They aren’t giving up. They trailed by 20 against the USA, and still came back to -5, -6, -7. South Sudan should not be underestimated, they want to win, they want to play, they want success, really, congratulations on everything they’ve done,” Bogdan Bogdanovic told media in Lille.

South Sudan had to win the game or lose by as many as two points to advance to the Top-8. In the end, they lost by 11 (96-85) and got eliminated. As for Bogdanovic and Serbia, they will play Australia on Tuesday for a spot in the semi-finals of the Olympic Basketball Tournament.
