Devin Booker claims NBA championship “harder to win” than Olympic gold

The United States has entered the Olympic Basketball Quarter-Finals, and Devin Booker was called to share his thoughts on a viral comment of Noah Lyles, who criticized the fact that the NBA teams called themselves “World Champions”.

Noah Lyles, who is maybe the best sprinter in the world, was called out by various NBA players including Devin Booker. The Suns superstar reacted with a facepalm emoji at the time to show his disapproval.

After Lyles won the 100-meter Final in the 2024 Olympic Games, Devin Booker recalled the Lyle’s sentiment and stand pat on his view regarding the NBA Finals and the international basketball competitions.

“I still don’t agree with the comment,” Booker said to the New York Times. “I feel like all the best talent in the world is in the NBA, and this is coming from an Olympic gold medalist (who believes) that being an NBA champion is probably harder to do.”

In any case, to win a season of 100+ games is certainly a tough task for any player. In the Olympic Tournament, there is usual bigger disparity in talent, as Team USA is usually putting together superstar-studded teams.

Nevertheless, it remains true that the designation of NBA teams as “World Champions” is not a term that can be held in reality. In any case, the Americans are hoping to add to their Olympic success this summer. For Team USA, the action resumes on Tuesday night in the quarter-final against Brazil.
