Furkan Korkmaz returns to EuroLeague

Korkmaz was sitting in free agency since last February when he was waived by the Indiana Pacers. He was part of the package that the Philadelphia 76ers sent to Indiana for Buddy Hield alongside Marcus Morris, and three second-round picks.

“Monaco’s project is incredibly exciting. Although they are a relatively young club, they have already made significant progress on the European stage. The desire to build a competitive and successful team is evident, and I am delighted to be part of this adventure.”

Korkmaz played exclusively in Philadelphia during his 7-season stay in the United States. He was drafted at No.26 by the Sixers and he averaged 6.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 328 regular-season games, shooting 35.6% from beyond the arc.

“I am known as a shooter, but I am also a player who sees, feels and reads the game well. The last two years, I have played as a point guard, which allows me to put the ball on the court.”

“I believe I can contribute to the team in a variety of ways, both defensively and offensively. Whether it is by passing, scoring, grabbing rebounds or getting into the passing lanes, I will have an impact on the game.”

Before joining the Sixers in 2017, Korkmaz started his professional career with Anadolu Efes playing for the Turkish powerhouse between 2013-2017. He has 40 appearances in the EuroLeague during his career with averages of 3.0 on 41.1 shooting from three.
