Baskonia adds NBA guard Trent Forrest

Baskonia added another perimeter player during the offseason by signing NBA guard Trent Forrest to a two-year deal. The American is coming off season with the Atlanta Hawks, while he started his NBA career in Utah.

Forrest found an NBA contract in each of the last four seasons spending most of his time in as a third-string option in the point guard position. He was considered a deep-end bench option during the past season with the Hawks.

Forrest, 26, will make his EuroLeague debut after registering 151 games under his name with averages of 2.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Forrest spent four years in Florida State University before starting his professional career with the Jazz.

The Florida State product is considered a pure point-guard that could create effectively for his teammates. He’s certainly coming in as a replacement for Codi Miller-McIntyre who joined Crvena Zvezda two months ago.

Forrest had an impressive per 36 minute production under Quin Snyder in Atlanta the past season and he will be able to fit alongside Markus Howard. With Howard elevating his game as one of the best pure scorers in the EuroLeague, Forrest fits like a glove alongside him with his ability to make plays.

Despite his shooting struggles, the Florida State product averages 8.0 assists per 36 minutes last season, while adding 4.4 rebounds and 9.0 points per. His experience playing alongside Trae Young could be valuable considering that Howard is also a nuclear offensive weapon with obvious defensive shortcomings.

Forrest will make his first appearance in the EuroLeague on October 3 matchup against Partizan Belgrade.
