Filip Petrusev on Serbia’s key to success, future with Olympiacos

Filip Petrusev was elated after Serbia managed to win the bronze in the 2024 Olympics and he is set to be in the podium tonight receiving his medal. Petrusev was excellent for the Serbian team during the tournament, and the game against Germany was not an exception.

Filip Petrusev spoke to the media after his team’s win about the future of the Serbian national team, playing alongside Nikola Jokic and Bogdan Bogdanovic and his future with Olympiacos now that the Olympic tournament came to the end for Serbia.

“I just hope this is not our last time altogether”, Filip Petrusev told the media, per Eurohoops.net.

“In the future, we can be even better, especially as a young guy. If we keep the main guys like [Nikola] Jokic, [Bogdan] Bogdanovic…We just have to get a great atmosphere and we just let go of each other so much. That’s the key.”

As for his future with Olympiacos after the Reds signed Sasha Vezenkov back, Petrusev noted that he wants to enjoy the moment for now. Petrusev came back to Europe early in the 2023-24 season after a small stint in the NBA.

“We will see, let’s enjoy the moment” he noted.

He slowly found a role within Olympiacos rotation mainly in the forward position but with Peters and Vezenkov also competing for minutes it will be difficult for him to find a prominent role with the Reds next season.

Petrusev averaged 9.7 points, 4.5 rebound and 0.8 assists through six games in the Men’s Olympic Tournament.
