Serbia head coach Svetislav Pesic led Serbia to the third place and the bronze medal in the 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournament. After Saturday’s game against the reigning World Champions Germany, he had nothing but high praise for what he saw in the tournament.
The veteran coach called the 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournament ‘one of the highest quality tournaments of all time’, with the Serbians coming very close to the gold medal.
“This was one of the most competitive tournament of all time, one of the highest quality tournaments of all time. I’m really happy that we could participate in it, happy we got the win today, we controlled the game, played very solid game like against the USA….Defense is organization, offense is talent. It looked very easy on the offensive end, but it was not easy because Germany is one of the best of all time. Both teams deserved to play the Final of these Olympics,” Svetislav Pesic said, via FIBA.com.
Serbia solidified its place as a powerhouse in international basketball, as this is their second medal in a row in major FIBA tournaments. Last year, they finished second, losing to the Germans in the Final of the Basketball World Cup.
