Steve Kerr guided Team USA to the gold medal in the 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournament, helping the Americans return to the top after finishing fourth in the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
The veteran coach of the Golden State Warriors put together a roster full of megastars and revealed that coaching these players was an ‘amazing experience’.
“I am just thankful to coach these guys and be part of the Olympics. What an amazing experience. … This has been an amazing experience, a beautiful experience. Very lucky to coach these guys. So fun to coach Kevin again. And I am very blessed to coach Steph for the last decade. We had a real wonderful group of guys. They were all very committed to winning and to each other and they didnt let anything get in the way of the gold medal,” Steve Kerr said after the Final vs France, via FIBA.com.
Steve Kerr joined Team USA’s coaching staff for the 2019 Basketball World Cup and 2021 Olympics, working as a lead assistant under head coach Gregg Popovich. Then, he took over for a three-year stint and will now step down from his position.
Miami Heat head coach and Team USA assistant, Erik Spoelstra, is expected to become the new head coach of the American national team.
