Keenan Evans reveals ambition after joining Olympiacos; says rehab is “going really well”

Keenan Evans, who spent the past two seasons in Kaunas for Zalgiris, is preparing himself for a new challenge after joining Olympiacos this offseason. The American guard is working his way back from a serious injury he suffered last April.

The former Zalgiris superstar revealed his goal with Olympiacos, explained the process related to his rehab, and explained how he’s expected to integrate himself with the Reds after coming off a serious injury.

“Rehab is going really well so far (it is) starting to pick up. Just trying to have the same positive mentality as I did after the first injury, come back even better,” Evans said in an interview with The Next Prospect.

The Texas Tech product said that he’s ready to help Olympiacos get over the hump after falling short of winning the title despite reaching the EuroLeague Final Four on multiple occasions.

“I’m looking forward to getting healthy and being able to contribute and help a team get over that little hump that’s stopping them from winning a EuroLeague title the last couple of years. I’m really excited to be a part of such a historical derby as well.”

The Olympiacos star also admitted that he might be under minute restriction once he is cleared to play, while he noted that he will have to earn his coach’s trust while getting back in form. Evans is expected to start ramping up his activity around December.

“I’m sure I’ll be on a little restriction at the beginning until I get my feet under me and make sure my body is responding well. Also, I will get to my in-season rhythm, especially playing on such a talented team. I will have to earn the coaches and my teammate’s trust to be out there with them.”

Last season, the American guard averaged 17.3 points (53% on 2-pointers, 44% on 3-pointers, 90% on field goals), 2.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals in 34 EuroLeague games.
