Following a very successful Olympic Basketball Tournament campaign, where France finished second and claimed the silver medal, head coach Vincent Collet is expected to leave the national team.
This is what Yann Ohnona of L’Equipe reports, adding that the veteran head coach is a free agent, as his contract with the French Basketball Federation has expired. Per the report, the Federation wants to move on from Vincent Collet, still it is unknown who will emerge as candidate to replace him.
Collet took over the national team back in 2009 and during his stint with the squad, France has won a total of eight medals, namely three bronze (2014 and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, 2015 EuroBasket), four silver (2021, 2024 Olympics, 2011 and 2022 EuroBasket) and the gold medal in the 2013 EuroBasket.
Whoever takes over will sign a four-year deal that will keep him with France NT through at least the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
