Nick Calathes is one of the best point guards to set foot on a EuroLeague court. That said, he’s certainly the best signing in a busy offseason for AS Monaco.
Calathes’ fit with Mike James might help the LNB Elite champions make the next step in the competition in the upcoming season.
FC Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich had a quiet offseason until recently, but they made a great offseason move to fortify their front-court with Johannes Voigtmann.
The German international returns to the Bundesliga after eight years. His ability to stretch the floor will contribute to a better offense for the Bavarians.
LDLC ASVEL
LDLC ASVEL has yet to make the jump to the upper level of the top European competition. The French powerhouse will feature many young players again this season, but we have to go with Shaquille Harrison.
Harrison, a perimeter defense ace, might be able to find a role in ASVEL’s perimeter rotation and cover for veteran point guard Nando De Colo on the defensive end.
Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv is going to feature a revamped roster this season after reaching one win away from the EuroLeague Final Four. Still, they added veteran EuroLeague help with Jordan Loyd and Rokas Jokubaitis.
Jokubaitis should be labeled as the top creator for the Israeli powerhouse. The Lithuanian point guard will lead the team, hoping that he can bring success to the club despite losing key pieces from last season’s squad.
Paris Basketball
The EuroLeague newcomers are preparing for their maiden season in top European competition. They will need a veteran leader that could help the club settle into new waters, and Maodo Lo, who joined the team recently, could play that role.
Lo had an underwhelming season with Milan last year, and he would want to bounce back by helping Paris Basketball make some noise in its first-ever appearance in the EuroLeague.
