Kendrick Nunn was able to put his stamp on his first season overseas by winning the EuroLeague with Panathinaikos. Playing under coach Ergin Ataman, Nunn showed his full potential and signed a two-year extension to remain with the Greens for the next two seasons.
Earlier this evening, there were reports suggesting that Kendrick Nunn is going to receive a Turkish passport and acquire the right to play for Turkey with Ergin Ataman as his coach again.
However, those reports were denied by the Turkish coach, who claimed that the national team already has a naturalized player in place.
“The Nunn news is not true,” Ataman said to TRT via Eurohoops.net. “We have many alternatives for the naturalized player. In addition, we continue to work for our current naturalized player, Tarık Biberovic, to be in our squad with his Turkish status.”
Tarik Biberovic is playing for Fenerbahce, and he’s beloved in the Turkish capital, coming off an excellent season with the EuroLeague giants. Biberovic, 24, has shined as the breakout star for Fener during the past season. He had 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
As for Nunn, he was one of the best players in his maiden EuroLeague season, averaging 16.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds on the way to Panathinaikos’ 7th title in the club’s history.
